Building Channels for Business Success

A consulting practice founded on the belief that good advice requires genuine understanding of your circumstances.

Our Story

Catalystgens was established in 2018 by a small group of operations professionals who had grown weary of consulting approaches that seemed to prioritise impressive presentations over practical value.

Having worked within Hong Kong organisations facing genuine operational challenges, we understood that businesses don't need consultants who arrive with predetermined solutions. They need thoughtful partners willing to understand their specific situation before offering recommendations.

The name "Conduit" reflects our philosophy: we see ourselves as channels that help connect organisational resources to their most productive uses. Like well-designed infrastructure, good consulting should be functional rather than flashy, enabling flow rather than creating bottlenecks.

Today, we continue to serve businesses across Hong Kong with the same measured approach. We don't promise to transform organisations or deliver dramatic results. We offer careful analysis, honest assessment, and recommendations grounded in your operational reality.

Our Approach to Consulting

Business consulting has developed something of a reputation for overpromising and underdelivering. We've all encountered consultants who arrive with frameworks and methodologies that seem more designed to impress than to help. At Catalystgens, we've deliberately chosen a different path.

Our approach begins with listening. Before we form opinions about what your organisation should do differently, we invest time in understanding what you're doing now and why. Often, we find that practices that might look inefficient from outside actually serve important purposes that aren't immediately obvious.

We believe that lasting improvements come from within organisations, not from external mandates. Our role is to provide perspective, analysis, and recommendations that your team can evaluate and adapt. We're not here to implement our ideas; we're here to help you develop and refine yours.

This means we sometimes tell clients things they don't want to hear. If we don't see significant opportunities for improvement, we'll say so rather than inventing problems to justify our fees. If we think a proposed initiative is unlikely to succeed, we'll share our concerns honestly.

Hong Kong's business environment rewards practical thinking over theoretical elegance. Our clients face real constraints—tight margins, demanding customers, complex supply networks, and limited resources. We keep these realities firmly in mind when developing recommendations.
